The reason why I have set up this blog, is to record my writing processes. I do Creative Writing and English Literature at University and also, a poetry class at The Barbican Centre, every other week. My ambition is to be a writer.I'm hoping by setting up this blog, you can support my ambition by adding any comments, feedback and advice. Thanks, Sam x

My mum, Lucia Straker, born 9th September 1963 in Ma'haut, a village in Dominica, which is in the capital Roseau. She lived right next to the seaside. She was bought up by my great grandmother Camay and also, I just found out, my great grandfather Ies,while my grandmother went to start a supposedly better life in England, with partner at the time 'Daddy Ivon.' My mum moved to England 1973, 10 years later. He moved out first and my grandmother followed after him. Her nickname since the days of Dominica has always been 'Luse' or 'Luso.' When I asked mum why she never talked about my grandfather Ies before she said 'I did, but it's just that he was always remained in the background.'
